The Resources Revisited series highlights existing resources available to the SLU community that may be especially timely or useful at certain points in the academic year.
As many of us close out the semester and move into the summer, we begin thinking about – now that we have some time – tweaking or rewriting a course or even developing something new. The Reinert Center has a host of extant resources that relate to various aspects of course design.
If you’re thinking of designing a dual listed course or want some insights on pedagogical strategies for them, these resource guides may be of interest. Designing a course for justice may be something you’re working toward. This resource guide may be of help in thinking about that concept. One of the most important tools for a course is the syllabus. This guide helps highlight the ways you can make use of the Syllabus as a Communication Tool.
Many of us use PowerPoint in courses to assist in delivering content. Interactive PowerPoint Tips is a guide that may help you use it differently. The shear amount of that content can be overwhelming for some students, Mitigating Information Overload is a guide that makes some suggestions around the issue.
Finally, do you know where you land with the use of generative AI in your course? If you’re still thinking about it, Considering the use of AI in Your Course may help you think through it.
Of course, with these topics and many more, if y0u’d like to talk with someone at the Reinert Center we would be happy to provide a teaching consultation.
