It seems difficult to believe that the fall semester has begun. Wasn’t it just yesterday that we were entering the bliss that is the end of May, when the promise of summer’s change of pace spread out before us like a picnic blanket? Now our steps are already quickening once again as the late summer heat rekindles the possibility only a new academic year can provide.
The Reinert Center team, of course, did not slow down this summer. We have planned events and created resources to support you throughout the twists and turns of this year. For instance, in response to our theme of Teaching, Learning, and Neurodiversity, we have created resources and planned events that will address effective ways to create opportunities for all students to learn the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind that are most important in your courses. Additionally, we have been reflecting on the many difficult experiences of our recent past and will be providing ways for you to engage in small redesign efforts in order to more seamlessly respond to a wide variety of possible disruptions to our regular schedule or format of teaching. Creators of generative AI applications certainly did not take a summer break, so we have occasions for you to continue exploring how you might engage such applications in meaningful ways with your students.
All of our signature programs will be in full swing as well, so please check the events calendar to find dates for our upcoming Praxis and Teaching Essentials workshops as well as courses in distance teaching.
Whether you find yourself sauntering by for a book discussion or running in at full-speed for a confidential teaching consultation, we are ready and waiting to support all your teaching endeavors.
Welcome back, and happy teaching!
